before your body wax
Stop shaving at least 2 weeks before your wax appointment to ensure your esthetician can provide the best results.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment.
Avoid sun exposure, indoor tanning and spray tanning.
If possible, take a warm shower before your wax appointment or at least make sure the area is clean.
Exfoliate the area 24 hours before your wax and apply body lotion.
Other things that may impact the discomfort include:
Fatigue, Pregnancy, Phase of Cycle, Hangovers
If you know you have a low pain tolerance, you can purchase our topical pain reducer - “No Scream Cream” - and apply generously to the area 30-45 minutes before your appointment.
Please note the following contraindications for waxing:
Contagious diseases and active breakouts
Use of Accutane within the last 6 months
Use of prescription steroids
Sunburn/Rash
Use of blood thinners
Thin, fragile, or extremely dry/dehydrated skin
after your body wax
Avoid heat, friction, sweat, or bacteria for at least 24 hours.
This includes:
Hot Showers/Baths
Swimming
Hot Tub/Sauna/Steam Room
Sun Exposure/Tanning
Vigorous Exercise
Intimacy
Continue to wear loose, breathable clothing for a few days.
DON’T TOUCH! We know the skin feels soft but try not to touch the area too much for 24-48 hours, and only with clean hands.
If redness or sensitivity occurs, applying hydrocortisone cream can be a good option.
After 48 hours, exfoliate the area using an esthetician recommended product. Continue to exfoliate 3-4 times per week and apply body lotion daily.
For workout aficionados: baby powder, zinc oxide cream, or deodorant applied to the area before exercise can help to prevent irritation and breakouts. Take a cool shower immediately after exercise, cleanse thoroughly and apply lotion.
Don’t mess with ingrown hairs! Instead, do a warm compress, exfoliate, and apply a spot treatment.
Schedule your wax 4-6 weeks apart depending on your esthetician’s recommendations. Don’t shave between appointments!
